Mazzzz.. Monday. Last day
We chilled on the beach and read. I read that whole Michael Crighton book - "state of fear" this week.. it was 600 pages. We caught the shrimp bucket dude and got a kilo of shrimp to cook up for dinner. I had bought noodles, sauce, tomatoes, olives and mushrooms the day before in case we were in teh room and starving.. but we'd ordered dominoes instead cuz we didn't have any meat... and really, we needed our protein after our sunday of surfing!
the shrimp noodles were really good. we hung out at the condo, intermittently watching movies and the ocean. We went into town to get a last run at teh squalo store- the surf brand we don't have here. I got a hat and some stickers and whatnot. man, we love our whatnot. anyhow, we went to a meeting, said our goodbyes and headed to La Casa Country for some last night in Mazatlan grub. we started with an appetizer. shrimp with mushrooms in a garlie white wine & oil. yum.
T- Tbone, baked potato & veg. Me- Filet w/ shrooms and gravy with mashed taters and veg. yummmm steak- cooked perfectly. i was totally stuffed. but, i had to try the banana creme pie and i did not regret it. it was on a flaky crust, the body of the pie had a banana layer inbetween the very firm creme layers and it was topped with whipped creme. wow. no wonder i gained 6 pounds while i was there. i never miss a good dessert!
we came home and chilled. "Almost Famous" was on. we stayed up later than usual partially due to the late night coffee and partially due to not wanting the last night to end...
Tuesday we got up a bit later than I'd have liked and watched the ocean for a bit. T saw dolphins and yelled for me to come see. they were making their way north up our beach, headed for playa bruja- where we surfed! there must have been 20+ dolphins all in groups of 2-4 or so. very beautiful to see on your last day. made me feel as though my journey was somehow complete. we had such a great time.
we went to the airport and had lunch. the flight was good. we had a laugh or 2. i tried to read, but i never do well reading on the plane.. thank goodness for bad tv programming over the us border!
love that vacation. my favorite so far.
